About Me

I am a qualified Maths teacher with degrees in both Maths and Statistics as well as a PGCE (the UK’s main teaching qualification). I have been teaching for 31 years in a variety of settings including a major university, a well known grammar school and an independent school. In addition I have tutored students either one-to-one or in groups and I have held my own Saturday classes and revision courses. I am also a Senior Examiner of A’ Level Maths.
I can teach across the entire range of secondary Maths from year 7 to year 13. I am familiar with the GCSEs, IGCSEs, A’ Levels, International A’ Levels and much more. I can also teach some degree level Maths and Statistics.
I am currently delivering lessons on a well-known online platform called Zoom. Ahead of that there is the possibility a short free trial lesson. The purpose of the trial is:
-
to see if you like my style of teaching
-
to make you feel confident that I know the subject matter you need
-
to see if my personality is compatible with the student being taught
-
to make sure that the technology works well
The trial lesson is typically 20 to 30 minutes long and is to give you a sense of a real lesson.
There’s no obligation to proceed after the trial lesson. Feel free to contact me using one of the above contact methods and please do send my information on to other friends and family. With the internet I can teach anyone anywhere.
Why are classes being delivered by Zoom?
CLASSES I WILL BE HOLDING FROM SEPTEMBER 2021:
The classes will be in the evenings (UK time). This means that children can attend classes from the comfort of their own homes. They won’t need to come out during dark winter evenings. They can have whatever snacks and drinks they need at hand. Children really don’t enjoy coming out in the rain to cold church halls where classes like this are traditionally held. Parents don’t enjoy having to bring children to classes and wait for them.
Zoom is ideal and also allows students who are far away from where I am based to attend classes and have one to one tuition.
This is a provisional timetable and is subject to change. Unlike school classes, there will be options to go into classes of a different age group. This will be discussed between me and you.
Between now and September, I will be holding free trials to demonstrate my teaching and to discuss your child’s ability and expectations. Please contact me for your free trial.
